Rev. John Lang - Interim Pastor
Trinity Lutheran Church welcomes Pastor John Lang as Interim Pastor following the sudden passing of Pastor Mike Borcherding December 22, 2017. Pastor Lang’s appointment as Interim Pastor was approved by the congregation based on the recommendation of Reverend Ray Legania, ELCA Metropolitan Chicago Synod, the staff and Executive Board of the Church Council.
Pastor Lang retired from full-time ministry in 2011. Since then he has served as supply pastor in 17 different churches in the Northeast Conference and has also done formal interim assignments at Immanuel, Evanston and St. John’s, Wilmette. Pastor Lang has experience in assisting congregations during pastoral vacancies.
Pastor and Mrs. Lang look forward to serving Trinity Lutheran Church through May 2018.
Linda Bensen - Minister of Word and Service
Parish Worker at Trinity since 1968. In the part time position of Word and Service – Linda assists with hospital visits, homebound communion visits and does trip planning for “Trinity Travelers”. Linda currently serves on these community organizations - Oak Lawn Community Partnership Committee and the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn Board.
Adam Cook - Director of Youth and Family Ministry
Before entering lay ministry, Adam enlisted, in 2006, in the United States Marine Corps. He served four years active duty. He spent his active duty time in Beaufort, SC with HQSRV BN S-1 and 4th MAW G-1/Command Deck New Orleans, LA and began his academic studies at Valparaiso University (VU). While at VU, Adam met his wife Ana in a general education course and they began dating shortly after. At VU, he majored in Political Science and Theology. In 2013, Adam graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Theology. While at VU, Adam began volunteering with his churches, Trinity Lutheran Valparaiso, youth ministry.
Shortly after, fall of 2013, Adam did a year at Lutheran School of Theology Chicago studying for his Masters in Divinity and pursued his calling to word and sacrament in the candidacy process. It was then he decided to take a step back from seminary and enter lay ministry while he further discerned his calling. In October of 2014, Adam also left Trinity of Valparaiso and began his ministry at Community UMC in Naperville as the Director of Youth Ministry.
In the spring of 2017, Adam began his academic studies at Wartburg Theological Seminary, where he is currently a student. He is pursuing a Masters in Divinity and has applied for candidacy to the ministry of word and sacrament.
Adam has a passion for social ministry, specifically: LGBTQ inclusion, homelessness and food ministry. His ministry joins youth and families to the call of serving in social ministries. Adam loves to plan and attend youth mission trips, retreats and culture excursions.
Marianne Izzo - Church Secretary
Church Secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church. Mother of 3 wonderful kids. I enjoy hanging out with my kids and fiance’ Bill. I love to watch the kids play sports and be involved in their activities. I enjoy a good book once in a while, too. I have been the Church secretary since 2006. I enjoy working at Trinity, and with the members of Trinity.
